March 30, 2025 – In a sweeping demonstration against billionaire Elon Musk’s growing political influence, protesters gathered at Tesla showrooms across the United States and beyond, rallying under the banner of the ‘Tesla Takedown’ movement.

Nationwide Protests Challenge Musk’s Political Role
Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets on March 29, targeting Tesla dealerships in major cities such as San Francisco, New York, and Chicago. The movement, backed by disillusioned Tesla owners, activists, and lawmakers, aims to push back against Musk’s role in shaping U.S. government policies, particularly his influence on federal budget cuts affecting education and diversity programs.
In Michigan, nearly 400 protesters assembled outside a Tesla showroom in Ann Arbor, with an additional 150 gathering in Troy. Many were retirees concerned about Musk’s advisory position in the current administration and his reported influence in slashing federal spending on social programs. Protesters carried signs reading “Elon is Poison” and “Stop Musk’s Takeover.”
San Francisco Sees Major Turnout
San Francisco witnessed one of the largest gatherings, as hundreds assembled outside the Tesla showroom on Van Ness Avenue. The protest, co-organized by advocacy group Planet Over Profit, included prominent figures such as State Senator Scott Wiener. In his address, Wiener accused Musk of holding disproportionate power in the White House and criticized his alignment with controversial policies.
“The decisions being made today will impact generations to come, and we cannot allow billionaires like Elon Musk to dictate the future of democracy,” Wiener stated.
Despite mounting political tensions, protesters remained peaceful. However, in isolated incidents, Tesla owners reportedly removed company branding from their vehicles in an attempt to distance themselves from Musk’s actions.
Global Demonstrations Gain Momentum
The protests were not confined to the United States. Demonstrators in cities across Europe, Australia, and the UK also participated. In Dublin, Ireland, activist Celeste Marin staged a solo demonstration outside a Tesla showroom, condemning what she described as Musk’s “anti-democratic” policies. Similar protests took place in London, Berlin, and Sydney, signaling international concern over Musk’s growing influence beyond business and into politics.
White House and Tesla Respond
The Biden administration has not officially commented on the protests, but sources within the White House indicate growing discomfort over Musk’s advisory role. Meanwhile, Tesla has downplayed the demonstrations, stating that the company remains focused on innovation and customer satisfaction. In a brief statement, a Tesla spokesperson remarked, “Our mission remains unchanged—to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. We respect everyone’s right to express their views.”

Future of the ‘Tesla Takedown’ Movement
Organizers of the Tesla Takedown movement have pledged to continue their demonstrations, with additional protests planned in the coming weeks. Activists are also urging Tesla shareholders to reconsider Musk’s leadership role within the company.
As Musk’s influence in politics continues to spark debate, the question remains: will the growing opposition impact Tesla’s brand, or will Musk’s supporters rally behind him?
For now, the battle lines have been drawn, and the world is watching.
